Open networking asks a room to perform. Structured candour asks it to be useful. The difference is not warmth; it is design.
A WEC gathering runs to a shape. Everyone is introduced, so nobody has to earn the right to speak. Members bring live problems rather than polished updates, and the circle answers with counsel rather than applause. What leaves the room is a decision the member could not have reached alone.
That shape is what makes candour survivable at this level of seniority. You are not disclosing to a network. You are disclosing to a circle that has agreed, in advance, what it will do with what it hears.
